Core Program

Description

Over the course of two terms, students will grow through biblical content, theological discussions, practical how-to’s, and spiritual formation. For those who want graduate school (seminary) credit, this program will transfer as 15 credit hours of accredited coursework. The academic courses covered are: Theology I, Theology II, Historical Theology, Intro to Hermeneutics, and Biblical Spirituality.

Calendar: The CORE Program is offered over 2 Terms:

  • Term I: Mid October - Late November

  • Term II: Early January - Mid March

Delivery: Sessions will be delivered in a hybrid model including Saturday seminars, Monday evening classes, small group cohort gatherings, and video lectures.

What to Expect: Each session will include interaction over readings, lectures, cohort discussions and opportunities to explore and probe deeper into the content of the week. Students will be expected to come to class having read the assigned Bible passages, chapters from textbooks, and having completed questions designed for discussion.

It will be rigorous without being overwhelming. Credit students will put in roughly 6-8 hours of reading/work in addition to the class time, and Foundations (non-accredited) students can expect to put in 1-2 hours of outside reading/work). Of course, working ahead during the gap weeks can help spread that workload out.

You can find the VST Core Syllabus here!

Cost: We offer the Core Program for $1500 (credit students / 15 credit hours) and $500 for Foundations (noncredit) students. Half of the total cost is due at the time of registration, while the remaining half is due by the start of the second term.
