Theology Program

Description

Over the course of one year, students will explore both the Old and New Testaments, discover the connecting themes that pull the overall story of the Bible together, and practice the skills required to become lifelong learners. For those who want graduate school (seminary) credit, this program will transfer as 21 credit hours of accredited coursework. The academic courses covered are:

  • Old Testament I & II

  • New Testament I & II

  • Systematic Theology I & II

  • Hermeneutics (How to study and apply the Bible)

In these courses we will journey through the Bible cover-to-cover, weaving between Bible content, theological discussions, practical how-to’s, and spiritual formation.

Calendar: The Theology Program is offered in 3 Terms:

  • Term I: Late May - Late June

  • Term II: Mid-September - Thanksgiving

  • Term III: Early January - Spring Break

Delivery: Sessions will be delivered in a hybrid model including Saturday seminars (around 1 per month), Monday evening class sessions, and video lectures.

What to Expect: Each session will include interaction over readings, lectures, cohort discussions and opportunities to explore and probe deeper into the content of the week. Students will be expected to come to class having read the assigned Bible passages, chapters from textbooks, and having completed questions designed for discussion.

It will be rigorous without being overwhelming. Credit students will put in roughly 8-10 hours of reading/work in addition to the class time, and Foundations (non-accredited) students can expect to put in 2-3 hours of outside reading/work). Of course, working ahead during the gap weeks can help spread that workload out.

Accreditation: The Theology Program is accredited through Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO. Gaining the 21 hours of credit is dependent on successfully applying to MBTS. (More on that upon your acceptance).

Cost: We are offering the full year for $1500 (credit students / 21 credit hours) and $500 for Foundations (noncredit) students. Half of the total cost is due by the first day of class. Payments for the balance may be made over the course of the academic year.
